**Status (2025-08-31):** Genie's own FAQ says all customer access ended on August 31, 2025 at 23:59 Pacific Daylight Time, with no grace period, and that Genie's own production data and backups would be permanently deleted by October 31, 2025. **TL;DR:** Genie closed on August 31, 2025, and by its own account deleted its data by October 31, 2025. If you exported your products, purchase orders, shipments and inventory table before then, you can rebuild in Keel HQ: suppliers, open purchase orders and SKU settings from spreadsheets you map column by column. If you didn't export, Genie says it can't help now.

Genie's help center documents the shutdown ([full FAQs](https://intercom.help/genie-io/en/articles/11787630-genie-sunsetting-on-31-aug-2025-full-faqs) and [data and migration](https://intercom.help/genie-io/en/articles/11787983-genie-sunsetting-on-31-aug-2025-data-migration), both accessed 2026-10-30). Everything about Genie below comes from those two pages.

## What Genie says happened

All customer access ended on August 31, 2025 at 23:59 Pacific Daylight Time. There was no grace period.

Genie joined Doss, and the app was retired as part of that move.

Before the end you could export products, purchase orders, shipments and the inventory table. Genie said it couldn't transform the data for you.

Your Shopify store data was unaffected. Genie's own production data and backups were to be permanently deleted by October 31, 2025.

## Rebuild in Keel HQ

Keel HQ has no import preset for Genie, so you map its export's columns yourself. There is no live connection to Genie; you upload files, and nothing saves until you review it.

**Add your suppliers first**

Keel HQ's file presets don't read supplier payment terms, so start from a spreadsheet of your suppliers. Open **Inventory → Settings**, find the **Suppliers** card and click **Import**. Choose **Your own spreadsheet: Suppliers**, with **Supplier name**, **Lead time (days)**, **MOQ**, **Currency**, **Payment terms** and **Email**. Review, then click **Import**. Each imported purchase order copies its supplier's payment terms, and those payments feed the [cash forecast](/features/cash).

**Import your open purchase orders**

Use the purchase order export you made before the shutdown (it includes open and closed orders), and keep only the open ones. In Keel HQ, open **Inventory → POs** and click **Import**, which opens **Inventory → Import**. Under **What is this file?** choose **Your own spreadsheet: Purchase orders**, click **Choose file**, and match each field in the **Columns** card to a column. **PO number**, **Supplier** and **Quantity ordered** are required; rows with the same PO number make one PO. Then **Review import**.

**Import supplier and lead time per SKU**

On **Inventory → Import**, choose **Your own spreadsheet: SKU settings**, one row per SKU with **SKU**, **Supplier**, **Lead time (days)**, **MOQ** and **Reorder point (units)**.

## What Keel HQ doesn't do

No Genie import preset and no live connection. You bring your own files and match the columns.

No statistical demand forecast. Reorder points use the trailing 90-day pace.

Keel HQ doesn't email purchase orders to suppliers.

Keel HQ is in private beta, with a waitlist.

## FAQ

### Can I still get my data out of Genie?

Genie's FAQ says accounts are no longer accessible after August 31, 2025, and that its production data and backups were to be permanently deleted by October 31, 2025. If you didn't export, ask whoever handled your Genie account whether they kept anything.

### What did Genie let you export?

Per its data and migration article: products, purchase orders (open and closed, not cancelled), shipments and the inventory table.

### Can I import a Genie export into Keel HQ?

As your own spreadsheet. Keel HQ has no Genie preset, so under Inventory → Import you choose Your own spreadsheet: Purchase orders, Suppliers or SKU settings and match the columns yourself. There is no live connection to Genie, and you review everything before it saves.
